About this clinic

Take your skills to the next level! In this clinic, you will learn proven methods for attaining excellence in inline hockey. Brian Fischer will help you to understand and practice the technical detail behind critical skills like passing, stick handling, and shooting, and will teach you how to do things right, every time. Brian is a strong believer that skaters with speed, endurance, and agility are the most effective roller hockey players. So you will skate, and skate hard, for the entire duration of this clinic.

Among the skills and techniques Brian will teach are:

  • High-intensity skating, passing, and shooting drills (whatever you do, you're always skating)
  • Technical break-down and lots of practice for different shots (wrist, slapshot, snapshot)
  • Strategies for scoring on a goalie
  • Forechecking and backchecking techniques
  • Critical selected game techniques, such as winning a faceoff
  • The top team skills that result in scoring opportunities

This clinic will repeat each six weeks - adding more advanced skills and practice with each repetition - over the course of the year. (Attending more than one clinic is not required. However, if you decide to continue with the clinic, you can expect to attend 4-5 sessions between September 2005 and June 2006.)

Number and age of students

We typically accept no more than 14 students per clinic so that Brian is able to give students more individualized attention. Students typically fall in the 10U/12U for the Monday clinic and 12U/14U age group for the Wednesday clinic.

The Wednesday clinic is a more advanced clinic for older skaters (in these age groups). Most students in this clinic are interested in travel roller hockey. Please contact Cheri to inquire about registration.

Cost

We expect the cost to be a maximum of $120 per six-week session. However, Hockey Seed clinics are "exact cost" clinics. This means that the cost is based on rink and instructor costs, divided by the number of students. Hockey Seed is run by parent volunteers (Cheri and Walt Zubak) who don't take a cut from the fee. You will be notified of the exact cost in advance of the clinic.

Please contact Cheri to register before the clinic begins. We need to know how many skaters will attend so we can inform everyone of the cost of the clinic before it begins. Also, at time, we will defer the starting date of the clinic until we have sufficient numbers.
